Angel Flight West
As a command pilot for Angel Flight West, Rodney frequently flies medical supplies to needed locations and patients for their medical appointments at his own expense. When he is not working or volunteering, he enjoys flying, camping, or cooking a variety of food with one of his several smokers.

SPIRIT AWARD
Ananias was a Christian in Damascus, Syria, who received a call from God. He was told by God to seek out Saul, a greatly feared persecutor of the early church. Despite his fear and trepidation, Ananias faithfully journeyed to find Saul. When he did, Saul was blind following his encounter with God on the road to Damascus. Ananias cured Saul of his blindness, baptized him into the faith, and helped him begin his missionary work. Little else is known about Ananias. Without his faithful service, however, the church may never have known the Apostle Paul. Ananias is just one among many unsung heroes of the Church who faithfully answered God’s call and served as a model of humble servanthood for others to follow.
The Spirit Award is presented to
Rod Jones
on January 26, 2025, in thanksgiving to God for faithful, unsung-hero service to God and the ministries of Spirit of Our Savior Lutheran Church. May many years of faithful service enable the pastor, administrative leaders, and all members of this congregation to carry out our mission to make God’s love and grace known in the world.

Projects
Rodney has been part of the Inland Empire community his entire life. He has been involved in numerous community projects to support those in need. Some projects include traveling to Mississippi on 4 occasions in the massive rebuilding effort following Hurricane Katrina and making improvements at his church.
Romania for Habitat for Humanity
In September 2025, Rodney returned from Moinesti (pronounced “Moi-nesh”) in eastern Romania, where he and his team partnered with Habitat for Humanity to help build a four-unit apartment building for families in need. Each ~500 sq ft home includes a kitchen, living area, one bathroom, and two bedrooms.
Rodney’s crew focused on drywall, moving the project forward as part of Habitat’s broader plan to deliver arou nd 200 homes in the region. Seeing current conditions—many households without gas, indoor plumbing, or enough beds—made the impact tangible; one mother with three young children will be able to reunite with her husband working in Italy once they receive their Habitat home.
Quick facts:
Date: Sept 2025 • Location: Moinesti, Romania • Role: Drywall Crew • Project: 4-unit build • Impact: Part of ~200 planned homes
